Ptown is a dog-crazy town. Most businesses don’t just welcome dogs, they’ll offer them a hello, a scratch behind the ears, and a treat too! If you love to travel with your dog, Provincetown is probably one of the easiest places to go. In addition to all the general dog-friendliness, there is a great dog park and plenty of outdoor fun to be had by creatures both canine and human. Dogs can roam free and off-leash at any of the town beaches. You can even travel to/from Ptown using public transportation, thanks to Bay State Cruise Company’s dog-friendly fast ferry service between Boston and Ptown.
Looking for dog-friendly lodgings? Here are a few of our favorite spots:
A boutique hotel built from a restored Sea Captain’s estate, Crowne Pointe oozes charm and class. It has everything you’re looking for: an award-winning restaurant, beautifully appointed rooms, a luxurious spa, and colorful gardens and outdoor spaces.
Brass Key is one of the most romantic spots in town and the staff works hard to cultivate a serene, quiet vibe for the perfect vacation escape. The pool and Shipwreck Lounge, serving up delish cocktails all season, are two of the highlights here. Two cottages on the property are perfect for pet-owning guests.
The Sage Inn offers bistro fare in its upscale, farm-to-table restaurant, live entertainment (from cabaret to comedy) in its showroom, and upscale accommodations at the Inn. Just off Commercial Street, it’s centrally located but just far enough removed to have its own vibe—a cool oasis of calm, after the high-energy downtown.
If you are looking for a more traditional, large-scale hotel, this one may be your pick. Dogs are allowed in all of the rooms and the hotel has gone above and beyond to make sure pets are welcome and comfortable during your stay. Dogs are allowed on the hotel’s private beach and can be left in the rooms unattended. There is even a doggie shower on site.
These are by no means the only pet-friendly lodgings in town. The CapeBeachDog website has a large list here. The Ptown Chamber of Commerce also maintains a webpage with a lot of useful pet information here.
